The Genealogy of the King of kings

We are starting a new study in the Gospel of Matthew this morning. Why Matthew? Isn’t that a repeat of Mark’s Gospel? Not at all. When the Holy Spirit inspired each Gospel writer to write an account of the life of Jesus, nobody was able to include everything Jesus said or did. In fact, John says in John 21:25— “And there are also many other things that Jesus did, which, if every one of them were written down, I suppose not even the world itself could contain the books that would be written.” So with that being the case, each Gospel writer had to be selective about what he recorded. The Gospel of Matthew focuses on Jesus as King!
