OUR STORY

In 1915, the James Douglas family wanted to expand its copper mining business into the Verde Valley. They established the Little Daisy Mine in Jerome and a smelter in Cottonwood.

One of the most distinct parts of the smelter was the 425-foot smokestack that rose above the Verde Valley. This smelter was a landmark that could be seen from miles. In 1938, the Little Daisy Mine closed, and the smelter stopped operating.

In 1948, the smokestack was blown up, and the hill was covered with bricks and rubble.

(The base of the smokestack is still intact as it houses the foundation of our outside patio behind the three crosses that are visible from Highway 89A.)

In 2004, Pastor Dave Arden and his family moved to the Verde Valley to shepherd the new church.

The church officially launched at the Quality Inn on October 3, 2004, as River Community Fellowship.

In October 2005, we moved our location to Tavasci elementary school where it held worship services for the next eight years.

In 2009, the church built a new road to the top of the hill where the church is now located.

In the summer of 2011, the church broke ground for the building.

In October 2013, after many years of praying, planning, and developing the hill, the doors were opened featuring a new 8,500-square-foot church facility.

In 2018, Dustin Daniels was commissioned and ordained as the new senior pastor. Dustin and his wife, Amy, previously lived in Phoenix for thirteen years, ministering to numerous churches through addiction and special needs ministries.

In 2019, The name was changed from River Church to River Bible Church.

Today, River Bible Church exists to fulfill the Great Commission in Matthew 28:19-20. We strive to accomplish this mandate by

1. Teaching God's Word with precision, purity, and passion 
2. Baptizing those who come to faith in Christ as Lord and Savior 
3. Making disciples who make disciples.

Our mission is that our church family would Experience God Verse-By-Verse so that we will Share Jesus Day-by-Day!
