The Reason for Miracles

Today, we see Jesus perform another miracle— but it's quite different. So far Jesus healed a leper and saved the life of a Centurion’s servant. But today, Jesus heals Peter's mother-in-law. And we could look at this story from our 21st century entitled perspective and think—well, she deserved to be healed. After all, she’s Pete's mother-in-law! She's in the family. She's got faith! She puts up with Peter! That alone should make her a saint. So this miracle story gets close and personal today. And it’s personal for you and me too—because if we’re not in a trial today, we will be soon.
