Fear, Power and the Gospel

As the the Twelve traveled through Galilee last week— preaching the gospel and performing miracles—news spread like wild fire.


So much so, that King Herod Antipas hears of it.


Antipas lives in the grip of lust, luxury, and laziness.


For whatever reason, he only now begins to take an interest in Jesus.


So last week, when Jesus sent the Twelve out to preach, Jesus created a moment of crisis for the Kingdom of Galilee.


Now, the monarch of Galilee, doesn’t really need an another crisis.


King Herod Antipas and his family live in a constant state of drama.


The next two weeks are not going to seem like I’m teaching from Scripture, but more like reading a Hollywood script from a cheesy soap opera.


This Scripture passage is actually more confusing, dramatic, and horrific than what Hollywood can create.


Would the people of Galilee believe that the Kingdom of God is among them?
