Sheep and Goats

Matthew 25:31–46 describes the final judgment when the Son of Man comes in glory and separates people like a shepherd separating sheep from goats. Those on his right (the sheep) inherit the kingdom because they cared for those in need, which Jesus identifies as caring for Him. Those on his left (the goats) are condemned because they ignored Christians in need, which Jesus identifies as failing to care for Him. The passage concludes with a contrast between eternal punishment for the wicked and eternal life for the righteous.
