Authority, Power, and Rights

Today, Matthew presses into that subject of authority. The religious leaders want to know who Jesus thinks He is—where does He get His authority to do the things that He’s done? Who gave Jesus this authority? Jesus answers those questions with a question of His own. Then Jesus continues to answer their question in three parables. And we’ll look at those parables over the next three weeks. But for today, the Lord has much to teach us about authority. Who’s in charge? Who doesn’t? Who has power? Where does it come from? What does that mean for us today as a church? Personally? Let’s find out together!
